Acupuncture

Acupuncture helps relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and improve overall well-being.

Acupuncture is an ancient practice that is now used in modern medicine to treat both humans and pets. This area of medical care focuses on promoting healing and repairing energy imbalance. This technique is non-invasive, natural and completely safe for your pet, which is why our veterinarians recommend it.

How does acupuncture work in my pet?

Before we treat your cherished pets, we perform a physical exam to make sure acupuncture is right for them. These exams will determine how many sessions are necessary to help your pet’s condition. Our veterinarians will insert needles at specific points where blood vessels and nerves meet. Acupuncture encourages blood circulation. This improves healing ability, stimulates the nervous system and releases anti-inflammatory properties. Overall acupuncture can reduce pain and discomfort in your pet.

My pet has chronic back pain, can acupuncture treat their condition?

Yes, acupuncture can be used to treat chronic back pain. We also use acupuncture to treat:

  • Irritated wounds that have exposed nerve endings
  • Joint inflammation
  • Allergies
  • Digestive issues
  • Arthritis
  • Hip dysplasia

If your pet suffers from any of the above-mentioned conditions, our team is able to help them. Schedule an appointment at 506-858-9900.

Is acupuncture painful for my pet?

Acupuncture is painless and most pets become completely relaxed after the first needle is inserted in their body. Some pets do have soreness after each session but it goes away within a day or two. Most sessions last no longer than half an hour.

How long will it take to see results in my pet?

Our patients generally improve after three or four sessions. For your specific pet, we will tell you how many treatments they’ll need based on their assessment.
